Creative Youth Voices Project
Children and young people are at the heart of Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire Cultural Education Partnership. It has always been a priority for the CEP and its members to have young voices rooted in what we do, and have them lead the way!
Overall the project aims to:
- CHALLENGE their perceptions in order to gain a deeper understanding of arts and culture
- Support them to EXPLORE and PARTICIPATE in a wide range of arts and cultural activities, both locally and nationally
- Encourage them to SHARE their findings
Our Creative Youth Voices project, which commenced in November 2019, has started to do exactly that, thanks to the lead of Kreative Foundations, and an amazing project team consisting of The New Vic Theatre, Endon High School, and The City Learning Trust.
Our group of 24 young people, also known as Cultural Explorers, have begun their journeys towards working with us to co-design arts provision across the city, and feeding in to an array of sectors to ensure young people’s needs and interests are being met.

Loving Learning Through Creativity
Loving learning Through Creativity is a partnership project between Stoke on Trent and North Staffordshire Cultural Education Partnership, Arts Connect (West Midlands Regional Arts Council England Bridge organisation), Partners in Creative Learning (PiCL), YMCA North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Opportunity Area.
Working with 11 schools in the Stoke on Trent area the project was developed in 2018 to tackle persistent absences through an “artist in residence” style project. Each school identified priority year groups groups and works with the team and an artist to deliver weekly in school sessions, additional extra-curricular breakfast and afterschool sessions all linked to the artists own practice.
Our aim is to engage young people, who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging with with school through the use of arts activities and positive role model/artist.
All sessions are linked to the curriculum to reignite the young person’s love of learning and make positive associations with school as well as; learning new skills, increasing confidence, finding new ways to express themselves and develop positive relationships with peers, teachers and the artist.
The programme also includes additional trips and activities to local, regional and national arts organisations, linked to their arts and cultural work as well as showcase opportunities to celebrate their work and share it with their families.
Currently due to Covid 19 our work in Schools is paused however our some of our Artists have continued to support schools through the development of resources to continue engagement in the Arts.
